Hi there!

Born and raised in the rolling landscapes of Missouri, Regan  M.  Zerwig grew up immersed in a world shaped by her family’s hands‑on traditions. From the earliest years, she observed generations of makers and crafters in her lineage — woodworkers, upholsterers, fabric‑artists, metal‑tinkerers — each driven by an innate desire to materialize ideas into form. This heritage of craftsmanship instilled in her a foundational respect for material, process and transformation.

From this rich familial backdrop, Zerwig embarked on a dedicated artistic journey. She relocated to Indiana to pursue undergraduate and graduate studies in the fine arts, drawn by the convergence of design, geometry and spatial thinking. During this time, she began to experiment widely with unconventional materials — notably paper but also wood, concrete, steel, resin and acrylic — allowing each medium to inform and challenge her evolving visual language. Her explorations were not purely aesthetic: they were also investigations into structure, repetition, geometry and the potential of everyday materials to evoke wonder, change and reflection.

In December 2023, Zerwig earned her Master of Fine Arts degree from Indiana State University. Her MFA thesis exhibition — culminating years of material experimentation and conceptual work — comprised site‑specific sculptures and installations that directly referenced her familial “makers” lineage while also translating those inherited impulses into contemporary spatial forms. Some of those works are currently on temporary loan to Rose‐Hulman Institute of Technology, where they are integrated into academic buildings as part of a contextual, installation‑rich environment.

Beyond the studio, Zerwig’s work reaches into public and interior spaces. Today, Zerwig positions her art practice at the nexus of materiality, geometry and environment. She is drawn to creating immersive works that invite pause and reflection, that transform the everyday into something unexpected, and that honor the legacy of making while opening toward new, contemporary dialogue. Her background in craft, design and installation enables her to navigate both intimate studio pieces and large‑scale spatial interventions — always with a sensitivity to materials, place and viewer experience.
